Ferrari 059/3 is the name of a racing engine from the Italian manufacturer Ferrari for the 2014 Formula 1 World Championship . The V6 turbo engine was developed under the direction of Luca Marmorini and Mattia Binotto .

The engine was used by Ferrari , Marussia and Sauber in 2014 . In 2015 , the Marussia team, renamed Manor Marussia , continued to compete with the Ferrari 059/3 in a modified car from the previous year .

The type 064 of the 2019 season was often criticized from the middle of the season. While Ferrari showed a strong performance throughout the 2019 season, their performance was particularly strong between the Belgian Grand Prix and the Mexican Grand Prix. During these races, Ferrari took six pole positions in a row and it was in these races that they achieved their only wins of the season. With their form noticeably improved compared to the first 12 races of the season, Red Bull made an inquiry to the FIA asking for clarification as to whether a system used by Ferrari that bypasses the fuel flow sensor would be allowed. Red Bull accused Ferrari of having installed the sensor in such a way that it could not measure an increased, unauthorized gasoline flow. The FIA ​​responded before the US Grand Prix with a technical guideline reminding all competitors that such systems are not allowed. As a result, Ferrari's shape faded. In the further course of the season they managed neither a pole position nor a victory. Max Verstappen then publicly accused Ferrari of fraud.

After testing for the 2020 season ended , the FIA ​​announced that it had completed the investigation of the Type 064 engine and entered into a private agreement with Ferrari. The FIA ​​refused to disclose the results of the investigation at the protest of the other teams.
