Fethiye is a municipality in the Malatya Province in Eastern Anatolia ( Turkey ).
Fethiye is about 5 km northwest of the county town of Yazıhan. The provincial capital Malatya can be reached on the D850 road after approx. 45 km. It is bordered by the Hekimhan and Arguvan districts in the north, the city of Elazığ in the east, Battalgazi district in the southeast, the Malatya (provincial capital) and Akçadağ districts in the south and Darende district in the west. Besides the county seat, Fethiye is the only municipality in the county with its own mayor. The population consists largely of Armenian Christians and Turkish Alevis .
Attractions
About 20 km away from Fethiye is the Firat Nehri reservoir ( Euphrates ), which is part of the so-called Southeast Anatolia Project ( Güneydoğu Anadolu Projesi , GAP for short) - a gigantic dam construction program for the generation of electrical energy and irrigation water. The GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam operates a GEOFON / MedNet station in the vicinity. The village also has a mosque , as well as the Bayram Tepe (15-20 m high mountain), which is only 50 m from the village, but still belongs to Fethiye.
