Fiachra Ó Ceallaigh

Fiachra Ó Ceallaigh OFM (born August 18, 1933 in Lios Uí Chathasaigh , † July 29, 2018 in Dublin ) was a Roman Catholic religious and auxiliary bishop in Dublin .

Life

Fiachra Ó Ceallaigh entered 1953 in Killarney the religious order of the Franciscans at and received by his theological training on July 2, 1961 in Rome , the ordination . He held various positions in training as well as in his religious community. He was elected Provincial of the Order of Ireland in 1987.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Dublin and titular bishop of Tres Tabernae on June 7, 1994 . The Archbishop of Dublin, Desmond Connell , ordained him episcopal on September 17 of that year ; Co- consecrators were Emanuele Gerada , Apostolic Nuncio in Ireland , and Desmond A. Williams , Auxiliary Bishop in Dublin.

On September 17, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
