Fields Corner is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of Dorchester in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It provides access to the Ashmont branch of the line Red Line .

history

The underground station was put into operation on November 5, 1927 as the temporary southern terminus of the Red Line . At that time, trams also stopped there and there was also a turning loop for buses. The newly designed entrance area of ​​the station was opened on December 22, 2006, but the renovation work could not be completed until September 23, 2008.

The subway station is west of Dorchester Avenue . It is completely barrier-free .
