Fields Corner is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of Dorchester in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It provides access to the Ashmont branch of the line Red Line .
history
The underground station was put into operation on November 5, 1927 as the temporary southern terminus of the Red Line . At that time, trams also stopped there and there was also a turning loop for buses. The newly designed entrance area of the station was opened on December 22, 2006, but the renovation work could not be completed until September 23, 2008.

The underground station has two tracks, each accessible via a side platform .
building
The subway station is west of Dorchester Avenue . It is completely barrier-free . The building is after the demolition of the elevated railways Atlantic Avenue Elevated , Charlestown Elevated , Washington Street Elevated and Causeway Elevated next to the stations Science Park , Malden Center , Charles / MGH , Wollaston and Beachmont one of the few remaining elevated stations of the MBTA.
