Fiend Force Records (also Fiendforce Records ) was a German record label based in Cologne and Hamburg, which was founded in 2003. It describes itself as the "Home of Horror Punk".

Company history

In 2003 Thorsten Wilms, the singer of the horror punk bands Ghouls and The Other , and Jonas “Paddy” Nitzsche founded the label Fiend Force Records as Europe's first horror punk label. According to their own statements, both had been fans of the genre for years, as well as horror films, comics and horror novels, and founded the label with the intention of offering national and international bands of the genre a suitable home (not least their own band The Other). The term “horror punk” was deliberately given a general meaning and included horror punk as well as horror rock and psychobilly bands. Internationally, Fiend Force was distributed by Cargo Records .

Fiend Force's first release in 2003 was the highly acclaimed (e.g. by Sonic Seducer ) sampler This Is Horrorpunk , on which numerous well-known groups were already represented. Since the label was founded, Fiend Force has been largely responsible for increasing the popularity of horror punk in Europe and especially in Germany. This Is Horrorpunk 2 was released in 2005 . Well-known national and international bands were under contract with Fiend Force until the end.

In 2005, Fiend Force organized the Fiendforce Fest (previously called Fiend Fest) as a horror punk festival. In doing so, they were not limited to the label's own music groups, but also engaged popular representatives from other record companies. The Fiendforce Fest 2009 took place again on April 25, 2009 in Solingen . There was also the Hell Nights Tour , during which several of the label's own bands went on tour together, for example Blitzkid, The Other, Der Fluch and Zombina and the Skeletones in autumn 2008 . After a few departures in the previous two years, new, well-known groups as well as newcomers were signed up again in 2010. In 2010 The Other left the band's own label and signed with SPV , where the album New Blood was released in May 2010 . According to Wilms, this move should give the group more opportunities.

According to Thorsten Wilms, the limitation to a certain musical genre made Fiend Force so successful. According to their own statements, The Other , Blitzkid , Rezurex and Nim Vind were considered bestsellers . Two songs from each of these four bands can be found on the mini-sampler Fiendforce Cuts , released in 2006 .

On May 26, 2014, the label announced its closure on its Facebook page.
