The Fright (German Terror ) is a Founded in 2002, German dark rock -Musikgruppe from Hermsdorf in Thuringia . The band members see their roots in horror punk as well as in the sleaze and hard rock of the late 1980s. They themselves describe their music as "Horrock'n'Roll".

Band history

The three-piece band The Fright was formed in 2002. Although their style was based on bands like Misfits, Samhain and Danzig, they wrote their own songs. The band played their first concert in March 2003, followed by recordings for CD 7 of the Blackest Songs on Earth at the end of 2003 . This was recorded live in one day under the simplest conditions.

In the summer of 2004, three new songs were recorded for publication on samplers in the studio. As a result, there were problems in the band and a brief separation. At the end of September 2004 a new drummer joined the band. Three weeks later, the first appearance with a new line-up took place at the horror punk festival in Oberhausen with The Other and The Crimson Ghosts . Since then the band has played numerous concerts, including as opening act for End of Green , Hardcore Superstar , Crazy Lixx , Sister , Balzac , Blitzkid , Sex Slaves , Babylon Bombs , Lacrimas Profundere and many more

At the end of 2005 four new songs were recorded, which should be released in early 2006, but which were then only used as demos. In the following year, new songs were written, but activities largely came to a standstill, there were no successes and a tour planned for February 2006 was canceled at short notice.

At the beginning of 2007, The Fright switched to the "Rock it Baby" agency. More concerts were played again and recordings for an album began. The first album Dacabre was released in October 2007 on Contra-Light-Records. From May 2008 it was also distributed abroad via New Music Distribution. Recordings for a second album began in August 2008, this was released in 2009 under the title Born to Be Dead .

In 2010 The Fright played their first European tour together with the Texan Ghoultown . In early 2012, the band was signed by the German horror punk label Fiend Force Records to release the album of the same name, The Fright, worldwide. Together with Blitzkid , The Other and Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space , The Fright went on tour that spread throughout Germany. Also in Finland one heard of the horrock'n'rollers and thus The Fright were invited by none other than Jyrki 69 from The 69 Eyes for another tour of Germany, which took them across the halls of the republic in early 2013. Not only the audience and the press rated this package as extremely coherent, but also the bands themselves, which is why they decided to play another tour together in Poland. In the summer of 2013, Kane joined the band as the new guitarist.

In 2015 the band released their fourth album Rising Beyond , which was realized through crowdfunding.

After successful funding by the Wacken Foundation, The Fright recorded their fifth album Canto V with Waldemar Sorychta . Through this collaboration, the label SPV became aware of the band and signed them. October, Friday the 13th has been selected for publication.
