Filago eriosphaera is a plant from the genus of Filzkräuter ( filago ) in the family of Compositae (Asteraceae).

features

Filago eriosphaera is a fast growing, richly branched, stemless, annual creeping therophyte that reaches heights of 1 centimeter. The leaves are roughly the length of the ball. The inner chaff leaves are very densely woolly and cover the individual balls so that only the bent-back awn tips of the chaff leaves can be seen.

The flowering period extends from April to May.

Occurrence

Filago eriosphaera occurs in the northeastern Mediterranean . Their distribution area includes the islands of the Aegean Sea, Crete, Cyprus, Lebanon and Turkey. The species grows on dry pioneer sites and sand dunes.
