Filder driveway

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Filderstadt driveway refers to several different road transport projects in the east of Stuttgart . Since Stuttgart does not have an eastern bypass suitable for long-distance traffic , the debate about an expanded Filder driveway between the B 10 in the Neckar valley and the A 8 on the Filder plain is one of the major transport projects in the Stuttgart region. The main point of contention is the location and design of the bypass. A distinction is made between variants of the Filder driveway with a long tunnel from the junction B 10 / B 14 at the Gaisburg power plant to the B 27 at the level of the SI-Center and the Filder driveway as a planned extension of the B 312 . Both variants are not to be confused with the existing Hedelfinger Filder driveway .

history

Originally the project was part of a planned motorway between Schwäbisch Hall , Stuttgart, Reutlingen and Ravensburg ( A 85 ), later the plans were focused on a mere connection between the B 10 in the Neckar valley and the A 8 on the Filder plain. This continuation of the existing B 312 was listed as priority 1 ("urgent need") in the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan due to its supra-regional transport policy importance .

The main component of the planning that was then made was to be three single-tube tunnels (Steinenberg, Lederberg and Haschberg tunnels) that cross under Hedelfingen, Heumaden and Riedenberg, whereby the crossing of the districts of Riedenberg and Hedelfingen was seen as the main point of criticism. The street should then flow into Mittlerer Filderstraße. The implementation of this project failed due to two factors: On the one hand, the planning did not comply with an EC directive on tunnel safety passed in April 2004, according to which single-tube tunnels may not be designed for more than 20,000 vehicles per day. On the other hand, the three-tunnel route would have resulted in considerable costs (approx. EUR 300 million), which, in the opinion of the Federal Government at the time, are offset by mainly local benefits. As a result, the project was downgraded from priority 1 (“urgent need”) to priority 2 (“further need”) in the federal transport infrastructure plan, although the city of Stuttgart wanted to co-finance the project with EUR 40 million.

Current status of planning approaches and discussions

A new four-lane route planning is currently being pursued, which is expected to cost around 150 million euros (status ~ 2006). The route is to begin on the A 8 at about the level of the Stuttgart Airport junction , then walk west past Scharnhausen , cross the Körschtal on a bridge, cross under Ruit and Esslingen-Weil in a tunnel and join the B 10. The city of Stuttgart does not agree with this proposal, since a stretch further east only relieves the Stuttgart districts of Riedenberg and Hedelfingen to a limited extent.

Demands for a Filderauffahrt project keep cropping up, for example in the summer of 2015 from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Region Stuttgart together with a majority in the Association Region Stuttgart . Opponents see this as campaign demands.

A tunnel variant with 2 tubes, each around 7.2 km in length, is currently being discussed. Following the demolition of the Gaisburg power station, the line could be connected directly to the Neckarpark triangle (B 10 / B 14) and linked to federal highway 27 near Möhringen.
