Filial church hl. Heinrich in Görtschach

The branch church in Görtschach in the municipality of Hermagor is dedicated to St. Heinrich . The church belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Förolach. It was first mentioned in a document in 1478.

Building description

The late-Gothic church consists of a baroque , two-axis nave and a one-bay choir with a three-eighth end, which is supported by four buttresses that are simply stepped . The tower on the north side, crowned with a pointed gable helmet, has square windows with chamfered soffit in the basement, above wall slots and biforic sound windows as well as gargoyles at the corners . On the south side of the nave there is an ogival, beveled side portal. The windows on the choir and nave are rounded. The ogival, chamfered west portal is protected by a pillar porch the width of a ship.

In the flat-roofed nave there is a wooden gallery from the Baroque period. The ceiling paintings from the late 18th century in the nave depict the admission of the holy imperial couple Heinrich and Kunigunde into heaven, surrounded by scenes from the life of Mary . The mural of a crucifixion on the south wall dates from the 18th century. A deep, pointed triumphal arch connects the nave with the choir. A barrel vault with stitch caps rises above the choir . A round arch portal on the north wall of the choir provides access to the sacristy on the tower ground floor.

Facility

The high altar , which was built around 1670, consists of a triumphal arch over a small base, a segmented gable, above a small aedicula with a blown triangular gable as a top as well as rich fittings and cartilage on the columns, on the side ears and on the top. The central figure probably represents Saint Heinrich, the side figures the Saints Eligius (?) And Martin . In the top there is a statue of St. Joseph , the crown is a figure of the Archangel Michael .

The two side altars from the end of the 17th century are decorated with reliefs from 1900. Depicted are the Assumption and the martyrdom of the Apostle Bartholomew . The pulpit from the second half of the 18th century bears the figure of the Good Shepherd on the parapet .
