history

The church was mentioned in a document in 1342. The current church building dates back to the 17th century and represents Gothic aftermath.

architecture

Church exterior

The polygonal choir , which is probably Gothic in its core, has buttresses and pointed arched windows. The nave has arched windows with a plastered square frame. The west facade is structured with windows and niches and depicts St. George from the 19th century in a circular field and Maria and John in the baroque niches. On the nave there are painted stations of the cross from around 1800 and on the south side is the sacristy . The north tower has double sound windows , over which it wears an onion helmet with an eight-sided floor .

Church interior

The three-bay nave and the choir have a five-eighth end and have barrel vaulted caps with a pilaster structure. The ogival portals of the sacristy and the tower are probably late Gothic. The delicate stucco decor dates from the fourth quarter of the 17th century and adorns the triumphal arch, the window frames and the vaults. The four-pass-shaped stucco-framed medallions are on the ceiling and depict the paintings Gertrud, Wendelin and Rochus, which were painted by Franz Plattner in 1885.

Furnishing

Joseph Schöpf painted the altarpiece of St. George around 1780. The figures Romedius and Leonhard date from the end of the 17th century. A canvas painting of St. George was purchased around 1700.

The organ positive dates from the 18th century and the pipework is probably new. The bell was cast in 1696.
