Filiberto Ferrero
Filiberto Ferrero (* 1500 in Biella , † August 14, 1549 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Catholic Church .
Life
The eldest of the seven children of Goffredo Ferrero was the brother of Cardinal Pier Francesco Ferrero , the nephew of Cardinals Gianstefano Ferrero and Bonifacio Ferrero , as well as the uncle of Cardinal Guido Luca Ferrero .
Elected Bishop of Ivrea on May 17, 1518 , he administered his diocese as administrator until the canonical age of 27. Since 1528 almsman of the King of France, he was ambassador of the Duke of Savoy in Venice in 1530 and became nuncio in Savoy on November 12, 1532 . From 1534 governor of Piacenza , from 1535 he was commander abbot of the abbey of S. Michele della Chiusa and since October 28, 1537 also commendatabot of S. Stefano in the diocese of Ivrea. Active as a nuncio in France from 1537 to 1541, Pope Paul III created him . on April 8, 1549 cardinal priest and on May 10, 1549 awarded him the titular church of San Vitale .
Cardinal Ferrero's grave is in his home town of Biella, where he was transferred.
