Filipe Neri António Sebastião do Rosário Ferrão (born January 20, 1953 in Aldona , India ) is Patriarch of the East Indies and Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Goa e Damão .

Life

He was ordained a priest on October 28, 1979 .

On December 20, 1994, he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Goa e Damão and titular bishop of Vanariona . On December 12, 2003, Pope John Paul II named him patriarch and archbishop of this diocese with the Bull Inter Gravissimas . The appointment was only announced after the resignation of his predecessor, Raul Nicolau Gonsalves , on January 16, 2004. The installation took place on March 21st. The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Raul Nicolau Gonsalves, Archbishop of Goa e Damão; Co- consecrators were Aleixo das Neves Dias , SFX, Bishop of Port Blair , and Ferdinand Joseph Fonseca , Auxiliary Bishop in Bombay .
