As Movie Ranch is referred to a film - or TV -Zwecken created or used Ranch . The Spahn Movie Ranch near Chatsworth (California) was the location of various western films and series. Among other things, Duel in der Sonne (1946) and some episodes of the series Bonanza and The Lone Ranger were filmed here. Later, the farm gained further fame as it was made available by the owner George Spahn to the criminal Charles Manson and the Manson Family as quarters. On September 26, 1970, a forest fire burned down the ranch buildings.

Big Sky Movie Ranch

The Big Sky Movie Ranch in Simi Valley is the oldest and largest movie ranch in southern California , which is still in operation. It was the location of many well-known series such as Our Little Farm .

Columbia Ranch

The Columbia Ranch , today Warner Ranch is owned by Warner Bros. and is located in Burbank (Los Angeles County) . In 1937, production designer Stephen Goosson had 150 workers erect the backdrop for the film Lost Horizon on the site in a construction period of two months, which is still considered the largest film set ever built in Hollywood. Other well-known films shot here are Twelve Noon (1952), Der Wilde (1953) and Mr. Deeds Goes to the City (1936).

Paramount Movie Ranch

Paramount Movie Ranch was established in 1927 and is owned by Paramount Pictures . It is located in the Santa Monica Mountains and was, among other things, the location of the series Dr. Quinn - a passionate doctor , Carnivàle and Westworld . The ranch was destroyed by a forest fire on November 8, 2018.

Yucca City

The former film ranch in the Sierra Nevada in Spain is also called Mini Hollywood or Oasys and is located near Guadix , about 25 km from Almería . The property was designed by Carlo Simi in 1965 for the film For a Few Dollars More . a. for outdoor scenes of the spaghetti western Once Upon a Time in the West used.
