Stephen Goosson
Stephen Goosson (* 24. March 1889 in Grand Rapids , Michigan , USA ; † 25. March 1973 in Los Angeles , California , USA ) was an Oscar -gekrönter American Designer .
Life
Before Stephen Goosson came to film, he worked as an architect in Detroit . In 1919 he made his first film work for Lewis J. Selznick . He then worked for several production companies, including Mary Pickford , Frank Lloyd and Cecil B. DeMille . Eventually he switched to Columbia Pictures , where he worked for 25 years. Goosson won his first Oscar with the sets of the film Lost Horizon (Eng. In the fetters of Shangri-La ). For this purpose was created under his direction at the Columbia Movie Ranch one of 150 workers built artistically challenging backdrop, which continued to be the largest ever built in Hollywood film set applies.
Goosson was known for his meticulousness. From the first draft to the last detail work on the film set , his work was always extremely detailed. Regardless of the budget, he attached great importance to exact research and authenticity. Goosson worked on the set design for over 130 productions before retiring from the film business in 1955.
