Filmworld Collection
The Filmwelt Collection , based in Bakede , Bad Münder (Lower Saxony), is the world's largest collection of science fiction objects with around 150,000 pieces with a focus on Star Trek . The collection was compiled by Martin Netter and housed on an area of 2500 square meters.
Netter ran a science fiction and film shop in Berlin from 1978 to 2004. In 2009 he opened what was then a smaller exhibition in Lauenau . He later moved to Bakede.
The collection
The collection consists of original props , film costumes , sets , but also scripts, set photos and production documents and includes more than 150,000 exhibits from 100 years of film history. It is still supplemented by ongoing auctions.
In 2005, the film studios Paramount Pictures decided to sell all the remaining film props from the Star Trek films and series through the Christie's auction house in New York. Netter acquired u. a. the original cockpit of the Shuttle NX-01 from the Enterprise series as well as large parts of the film archive and original film sets - including the spaceship bridge of the Klingons .
In the following years until 2009, the remaining stock was offered by the American company It's a wrap on behalf of Paramount via an online auction house. Netter auctioned the inventory comprising thousands more original costumes, film props and film sets.
He was also able to obtain other parts of the film sets directly from Paramount, such as the consoles of a Suliban Cell Ship , complete crew quarters, the complete make-up department with thousands of molds for masks and production material, the wardrobe department with all patterns, costume fabrics, tailors' mannequins and the associated ones Acquire furniture. Furthermore, his collection includes u. a. Costumes, uniforms, phasers, tricorders, alien masks, computer terminals, set photos and production sketches, etc. a.
Netter exhibits regularly and shows his collection as a traveling exhibition at events such as Star Trek Conventions and fan meetings at home and abroad.

Netter also supports large, international exhibitions with exhibits. After the Star Trek: The Exhibition in Blackpool , UK, which took place in 2016/2017 , Martin Netter rented the exhibition space there in 2018 and continued to operate it on his own. Its original exhibits were already on view as a main part of the Star Trek The Exhibition.
The collection is currently housed in the Filmwelt Center, along with an online shop. Parts of the collection are also stored in the USA under the name Filmworld .
The founder
Martin Netter (born January 1, 1960 in Lindau am Bodensee) is the founder of Filmwelt Berlin as well as manager and chairman of the Filmwelt Center. In addition to his shop in Berlin, he started trading in merchandising and licensed items from 1993 onwards. From 1993 to 1998 he held licenses for Star Wars , from 1993 to 2005 for Star Trek , from 1994 to 2000 Babylon 5 as well as for Star Trek The Exhibition , Star Trek World Tour , Star Trek Federation Science European Tour , Space Center Bremen and as an outfitter for Paramount Home Entertainment .
Netter is invited to lectures, discussions and newspaper interviews as well as to television and radio broadcasts. He stepped z. B. in Planet Wissen and TV totally .
Netter has made it his life's work to keep Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry's vision , alive and thus a piece of film history for posterity. He is committed to preserving his collection and making it accessible to the public.
Netter supports an international network. Through the preservation of the cultural asset and the large fan community interested in it, both at home and abroad, friendships and relationships are created across all borders and the diversity of humanity.
Martin Netter is married to Beate Netter and has three children. Beate Netter was responsible for the Science Fiction Collector Service from 1991 to 2000, and has been Managing Director of Filmwelt Distribution GmbH since 2001. She also runs the Filmwelt Shop.
Filmwelt Center Association
The Filmwelt Center Verein, founded in 2017, is the sponsor of a museum building funded by the EU. The museum with a film workshop and film archives is to ensure the maintenance and continuity of the collection on an area of 1200 square meters. The association is headed by Netter's son Maximilian Netter.
