Location of Bakede in Lower Saxony

Tower of St. Nicolai Church

Bakede is one of 16 districts of the city of Bad Münder am Deister ( Hameln-Pyrmont district , Lower Saxony ).

Geographical location

Bakede is located west of the town of Bad Münder am Deister in the Weser Uplands at the foot of the Süntel . The closest neighboring districts are Beber and Egestorf am Süntel in the north, Böbber in the east and Hamelspringe in the south . The K73 runs through the village from Beber to Hamelspringe, which then leads as the K72 to the city center of Bad Münder.

history

The place was first mentioned as Badukun in 1033 in a document from Emperor Konrad II. The name changed from the dialectal beacon to today's Bakede.

The church in Bakede was first mentioned in 1277. The St. Nicolai Church, built in the 14th century, had to be demolished in 1820 due to its disrepair except for the tower. The builder Ludwig Hellner added a hall church in the classical style in 1828/29 .

The village of Bakede was united on January 1, 1973 by the regional reform with 15 other places to the municipality of Bad Münder.

In 2017 Bakede won the district decision of the “Our village has a future” competition there.

Origin of the place name

Old names are 1033 Bodukvn, 1264 de bodeke, 1277 (zu) Bodeken, 1286 Bodike, 1465 Bakede, 1465 to Badeke, Badeke; 1470 Clawes van Badeke, 1551 in our village Bakede, 1577 in Badeke, 1581 Baake, 1609 in the Badecker Feldmarcke, 1609 in the Bedecker Winckel, from 1750 Bakede.

The interpretation of the place name has to be based on evidence of the year 1033 with great probability. Since 1465 a lot has changed in the name: the -o- changes to -a. The form Bakede has only recently become established through the writing of supposedly older and more reliable forms. An entry in the church register from 1777 says: “According to the old documents, the true name of this village is Badeke. Pastor Barkhausen wrote it as it is commonly spoken, Bahke and Pastor Steckelmann Backe. He and Pastor Volger added -de and did backede. "

politics

Bakede has a joint local council with the neighboring towns of Böbber and Egestorf.

The local mayor is Rolf Wittich ( SPD ).

Economy and Infrastructure

Bakede has a kindergarten and a two-class elementary school. There is also a supermarket, bistro, café, savings bank and Volksbank. There are various associations for a wide variety of interests that shape the village image and maintain an active village community.

Bakede is home to the Filmwelt Collection , the world's largest collection of science fiction and Star Trek exhibits. With the support of the municipality and funding from the EU, a museum with a film workshop and film archives will be built on an area of 1200 square meters from 2018.

Culture and sights

  • The St. Nicolai Church, built in the 14th century.
  • The path of the senses designed by the artist Hugo Kükelhaus , also known as the "adventure path "
    • Bakede has an "inner path of the senses", mostly in place. The "outer path of the senses" is around 4 km long.
  • Adventure trail (2001)
    • The adventure path is integrated into the great "Path of the Senses". It is laid out between the Bodental and the Benser oaks and has a length of 280 m and a height difference of approx. 50 m. Seven stations invite you to participate and learn. The adventure trail was created by the citizens' association on a voluntary basis. It only took the volunteers seven months to do this. At the highest point the "Bens oaks" form. There is a great view over the Deister-Süntel valley .
  • Craft museum
    • Set up by the citizens' association in a former barn. There is a complete shoemaker's workshop, a butcher's shop, a cartwright / carpentry shop and a room with farm equipment.
  • Süntelturm and Süntelgeist
    • The foundation stone was laid in 1899. The well-known poet and writer Hermann Löns accompanied this. From the Süntelturm you can enjoy the view. Weserbergland to Solling, Volger, Ith, Hohenstein, Steinhuder Meer and Deister can be discovered. When the weather is clear, the Harz can also be seen. The Süntelturm can be reached from Bakede in the direction of Bensen, on the Kammweg (refuge) that goes from the Süntelturm to Hohenstein, follow the signs to the Süntelturm. A hike takes about 1.5-2 hours.
    • The Süntelgeist was created by the Bakede civic association. He likes to guide visitors through Bad Münder, Bakede or the Süntel and tells of his very long life in the Süntel (at least since the last ice age).
  • Hohenstein
    •  The steep drop of the Hohenstein in the Süntel is the mightiest naturally formed rock face in Lower Saxony. It is around 350 meters wide and falls 50 meters deep. The tower-like rock formation is also called "the green altar". Bloody animal and possibly human sacrifices are said to have been made here in pagan times. A hike from Bakede to Hohenstein takes about 2 hours, and you can include part of the "Paths of the Senses" in your hike. Non-local hikers should take the path to the adventure trail. The path is signposted from the Bens oaks, at the end of the adventure trail.
  • Roof field
    • The name Dachtelfeld comes from the war of the Franks against the Saxons around 782 in the course of Christianization. It happened that the Saxons literally "thought" the Franks in the north of the Süntel, that is, beat them up. On the Dachtelfeld you can admire the slowly growing Süntel beeches : the hike leads from Bakede to the adventure trail over the Bens oaks towards Hohenstein, about 1 km behind the Bensers oaks there is a sign towards Dachtelfeld. A hike from Bakede to Dachtelfeld takes about 1.5 hours.
  • Larch avenue
    • The larch avenue has been replanted in recent years. Originally the avenue was laid out in 1848 due to a division of the area. The old larches have disappeared. For this reason, new larches were purchased.
  • outdoor pool
    • The bath was built in 1938 by Bakeder citizens. Today a development association operates the outdoor pool, which is idyllically located on the edge of the forest. The parking facilities make it a good starting point for hikes.
