Nienstedt is one of 16 districts of Bad Münder in the Hameln-Pyrmont district in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

Nienstedt is surrounded by forest in the middle of the Deister , part of the Lower Saxony mountainous region . The Waltershagener Bach flows through it . The village is also called "The Pearl in the Deister" and is the only larger settlement that lies within the ridge and not on its edges. The next villages in the neighborhood are Eimbeckhausen in the southwest, the Barsinghausen district Egestorf in the northeast and the Schaumburg districts Messenkamp and Altenhagen II in the west.

history

Nienstedt was first mentioned in a document from 1193 when six Hufen land in Nigenstede , as the place was called at that time, was sold.

As part of a regional reform in Lower Saxony , the village became one of 16 districts of the municipality of Bad Münder on January 1, 1973 (previously it belonged to the old district of Springe ).

In the center of the village there is a church house of the Evangelical-Lutheran chapel community Nienstedt; the chapel community belongs to the Christ parish Barsinghausen-Egestorf. The parish of St. Johannes Baptist in Bad Münder is responsible for the Catholics .

The Leibnizschule , grammar school in Hanover , maintained the school camp Nienstedt with 65 beds in Nienstedt . Due to the high costs of maintaining fire protection, the school camp has not been occupied since 2020 and is being sold by the current provider.

The state road 401 ( Eimbeckhausen –Nienstedt– Egestorf ) leads through Nienstedt , from which the district road 61 (Nienstedt– Messenkamp ) branches off to the west in the village . Almost 1.5 km northeast of Nienstedt lies the Nienstedter Pass ( ⊙ ) on the L 401 on the Deisterkamm , a 276.6 m above sea level. NHN high mountain pass . 52.2643 9.4723

The pass and a hill on the L 401 in the direction of Eimbeckhausen and on the K 61 in the direction of Messenkamp are popular with cyclists because there are the longest, highest and steepest stretches in the Hanover area that are consistently passable with racing bikes. All routes leading up higher or steeper end up as dead ends for racing bikes in the Deister. They are also popular with motorcyclists who prefer the Nienstedter Pass car park as a meeting point . After protests by residents, the L 401 between Nienstedt and Egestorf was closed to motorized two-wheelers on Sundays and public holidays between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

The Nienstedter Pass car park is the starting point for hikes and bike rides by mountain bike, with some restrictions also by trekking bike, over the Deisterkamm to the northwest past the Nordmannsturm ( 379 m above sea level ) to Nienstedt or Barsinghausen and to the southeast past the Annaturm ( 405 m above sea level) . Transportation

Local public transport is provided by bus routes operated by Hameln-Pyrmont and GVH . A GVH bus line runs from Barsinghausen via Egestorf to Nienstedt and crosses the Deister kamm .
