history

The former building of the Klein Süntel glassworks

The Klein Süntel glassworks, first mentioned in a document around 1620, existed in the village and produced green glass in the form of bottles until it was closed in 1886 . Since 2011 there have been archaeological investigations of the demolished operating facilities, in which a former glassworks tower is suspected.

At times mining was carried out in Klein Süntel to extract hard coal from the Süntel. This is still evident from the tunnel exits and spoil heaps in the forest.

The village of Klein Süntel was merged on January 1, 1973 through the regional reform as one of 16 districts to form the municipality of Bad Münder.
