The Finkenbach is a 4.7 km long orographically left tributary of the Lutter in Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

The stream rises west of the street Am Stadtholz on the embankment at an altitude of 99  m above sea level. NN . First flowing to the northwest, the stream disappears into a canal after around 300 meters. East of the street Am Stadtholz and north of the street Hakenort it comes to the surface again and flows in a northeasterly direction.

Beginning of the piped section on Finkenstrasse

After about 700 meters of open river, another canal takes up the stream again. At the eastern end of Althoffstrasse , the brook comes to the surface again. The Finkenbach flows further in northeastern directions through the Kammerratheide . Here its course turns in an easterly direction.

According to the available sources, the lower course is not entirely clear. According to the NRW water stationing map, the Finkenbach flows to Vogteistraße and is then led west of this south to the Lutter . This point has an altitude of 82  m above sea level. NN . After the German base map 1: 5000 and the Digital Topographic Map 1: 10.000 but the Finkenbach continues to flow in an easterly direction and flows west of the corner Straße and 79  m above sea level. NN in the Lutter.

With a height difference of 17 meters, there is an average bottom slope of 3.6 ‰. The 4.502 km² catchment area is drained to the North Sea via Lutter, Westfälische Aa , Werre and Weser .

Water quality

The water quality of the Finke stream is according to the water quality report of the year 2008 in the upper course in a highly contaminated state (grade III), but improved in the further course to class II, which corresponds to a moderately loaded condition.
