The Finow-Class is a push boat type of the GDR - inland waterways , considered Finow slipcase (Project 1367) and Finowbugsierer developed (Project 1369), has been constructed. The majority of the 110 boats built are still in use today.

Design and construction

The hull is made in the shape of a pontoon and divided into three watertight compartments by two bulkheads : engine room , crew room and forepeak . The deck structure is in place.

The push boats are powered by a marine diesel engine of the type SKL 6 VD14.5 / 12-1 with 73 kW (project 1367) or the type 6 VD14.5 / 12-2 with 103 kW (project 1369), each of which has a rudder propeller ( GDR technical language : Z-drive ) works. The speed reached is 9  km / h in overrun mode and 12 km / h when driving alone. Some of the boats still in service have been equipped with new engines.

The push boats were built at the shipyards in Zehdenick (3 boats in the period 1961–1965), Genthin (9 boats in the period 1962–1988) and at VEB Yachtwerft Berlin (98 boats in the period 1970–1989).

commitment

The push boats were used by VEB Binnenreederei Berlin, VEB Wasserstraßenbau, the waterway authorities and other state- owned companies and institutions for maneuvering and pushing vehicles without their own drive .

Eleven units were exported: in 1974 five boats to Vietnam , 1987 one boat to West Berlin and 1989 five boats to Czechoslovakia .

Since the reunification of Germany , the push boats have been used as tugboats by shipping companies , hydraulic engineering companies and the waterways and shipping authorities .

technology

Z-drive disengaged

The drive system, known in the GDR as the Z-drive , was developed in 1956 by the Göbel and Preller company from Dresden. The engine power is transmitted to the propeller in the Kort nozzle via cardan shafts and helical bevel gears . The Kort nozzle can be rotated 360 degrees.
