First Doom is a band from Pforzheim that has been back in the same line-up since 2009.

history

The band was founded in 1995 in Pforzheim . Since the founders were influenced by metal and punk , the music sounded accordingly.

The first three First Doom titles were recorded as demo MC. The founding singer quit before the first gig. The bassist also left the band in the year it was founded.

Further concerts were played in 1996 with a temporary bass player who shared the vocals with the drummer and guitarist. The texts (grammatically wrong due to poor knowledge of English) deal mainly with anti-war messages, melodrama of the world and horror films .

In 1997, the last founding member next to Steffen Bähr, Thomas Pfänder, left and switched to the dark metal band Mystic Circle under the pseudonym Isternos . With a new line-up, concerts followed, which were accompanied by numerous props such as gas masks and rubber dolls . A highlight is a festival with the headliners Fools Garden , Der Wolf and Herwig Mitteregger . First Doom appeared in black and camouflage make-up. At another festival, First Doom performed cover versions of the Kastelruther Spatzen in a true-to-original style.

In 1999, Steffen Bähr put the band that existed after further line-up changes and exits from him and Michael Bossert and switched to the punk band The Lennons .

In 2001 the first plans for the restart began. Drummer Steffen Bähr, who is currently recording the 20th anniversary record with the Lennons (with the participation of WIZO and Terrorgruppe ), became a singer again, but this time without playing the drums. The music sounded much more punk-heavy due to the new line-up, and the band decided to only write German-language texts in the future, which should be much more relaxed and positive than the previous ones.

In 2002 the first studio EP was released with the name Neue Medizin . The first appearance after the restart took place in 2003 at a newcomer festival of the autonomous Pforzheimer youth center hose , at which the audience votes and First Doom emerged as the winner. This was followed by further concerts in the support program of bands such as Loikaemie and Kafkas as well as the live CD Die alten Tage with old live recordings from 1996 to 1998 including a new, previously unreleased studio recording. Again props and acting like (toy) chainsaw massacres and Adolf Hitler parodies were part of the live performances.

Due to the success at that time, there were differences in the band that led to the departure of various members.

In 2004 the band consisted of Steffen Bähr (who meanwhile also played bass) on vocals and Tanja Ulmer on drums, who recorded the first studio album Anarchy together . With new guitarists, the band also performed live again in the same year. Metal elements were almost nonexistent at that time, the band played melodic punk rock.

In 2005 the album Anarchie was released , a German rock CD with 11 tracks and the current formation decided to restart under the name Viermannzelt . The last two concerts under the name First Doom took place in Karlsruhe and near Chemnitz . For the 10th anniversary a best-of CD with studio recordings was announced, which began to be recorded, but did not appear.

In 2006 Till Würtemberger became a permanent member of the band again after 7 years of abstinence while recording the best-of CD.

In 2007 a live comeback with a new line-up was announced, but this failed due to Till Würtemberger's hearing loss . Various studio recordings have been released on samplers, including contributions to tribute albums to Soilent Grün and The Lennons .

In 2009 the remix album Doombule was released under First Doom & Friends, which contains new versions of the previous studio recordings, cover versions, remixes and guest contributions by Across the Border , The Lennons, Moloko Plus and many other musicians (72 artists in total). A short time after the release of the remix album, the newcomer Helmut Kuntschner on guitar and the drummer Tanja Ulmer, who returned to the band, made the band complete again. Since then the band has consisted of the same line-up.

Another live comeback was announced for 2010, which took place in April for the 15th anniversary in Pforzheim. The live program contained songs from all creative phases of the band, but mostly concentrated on the harder metal elements. The program was accompanied by parody and costume interludes, such as Deutschland sucht den Superdepp . The live recording of the concert was released uncut and unmixed as a strictly limited CDR under the title Through Ironie to More Beauty . In December, the long-announced studio best-of CD was released under the title 15 Years , on which almost all ex-members of the band took part in the recordings.

In 2011 more exclusive titles appeared on samplers.
