Pisces Age
In astrology, the Pisces Age is the month in the world year , which is defined by the passage of the vernal equinox through the Pisces sky sector (not congruent with the constellation Pisces and not to be confused with the zodiac sign ). The 2,000-year Age of Pisces was after by the musical " Hair popularized" opinion in the second half of the 20th century through the Age of Aquarius replaced. But there are different calculations for the beginning of the Aquarian Age.
Period
Since the transition of the vernal equinox into the constellation of Aquarius depends on arbitrarily determined constellation boundaries, the change of the ages cannot be properly defined. So far, very different points in time have been calculated and - in addition to years from the end of the 18th century and the 19th century - the years 1950, 1962, but also 1997, 2008 and 2146 have been given. The latter number results from setting the year 1 AD as the beginning of this age, as is usually done for reasons of clarity. If you take the constellation boundaries that apply today as a basis, the transition only takes place around 2600.
Interpretations
These constellation ages are now assigned esoteric basic properties in astrological interpretation, in some cases even the basic properties of the zodiac signs of the same name.
A fundamental trait in the Piscean Age is a tendency towards mysticism and the separation of spirit and matter. The major religious communities Christianity , Islam and Buddhism , which emerged or spread over large parts of the world during this period, were formative.
As a counter-movement, modern materialism emerged, which is perceived in esoteric circles as a symptom of a crisis.
Bible
The Christianity should, according to the (controversial) film Zeitgeist (2007) symbolize the Age of Pisces. Jesus made the fisherman Simon Peter a " fisherman of men". ( Lk 5.10 EU )
The fish became a symbol of Christianity within the first few centuries and is one of its most important today.
The (old-) Greek word ΙΧΘΥΣ (Ichthys = fish) stands for I esous Ch Ristos Th eou Y ios S oter (Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior / Redeemer).
Esoteric
Above all, the esoteric women's movement connects the idea of the change of age with the idea of replacing patriarchy with matriarchy .
Since the “material science”, which was still arrested in the Piscean Age, is made jointly responsible for the crisis by the representatives of this esoteric worldview, their scientific-critical objections to this astrological-esoteric speculation are not taken seriously. Even objections from within our own ranks to the underlying astro calculations (e.g. by the New Age physicist Fritjof Capra ) are hardly addressed.

In literature, the age of fish was taken up by Ödön von Horváth (novels Youth Without God and A Child of Our Time ), Axel Reitel and Dan Brown (novel Da Vinci Code ).
