The Fischhof is a former farm and farmyard of the Waldsassen monastery in the Upper Palatinate district town of Tirschenreuth . The construction goes back to the year 1219 at the time of Abbot Hermann ; The building in its current design was not built until around 1680. Today the Fischhof, which was on an island until the upper city pond was drained in 1808, houses the Tirschenreuth District Court .

history

Bridge to the Fischhof

The predecessor of today's Fischhof already existed in the 13th century. On a small island in the upper town pond there was a building that the Prefect of Tirschenreuth lived in. The complex was enlarged by residential buildings, stables, barns and granaries and served the Cistercian monastery Waldsassen as a so-called grangie , a corn or toe yard that was managed by lay brothers. In addition, the courtyard was used by the Waldsassen abbots as a summer residence.

During the Reformation , Waldsassen Abbey lost its independence in 1548 - the last abbot was Georg III. Agmann - and ownership of the monastery passed into the possession of the Wittelsbach family. From 1562 to 1571, Duke Reichard von Pfalz-Simmern ruled over the Stiftland as administrator of the Waldsassen Abbey and resided in the Fischhof. In 1613 the stables and the building for the common servants were vaulted. From 1669 to 1803 the Fischhof served again as the summer residence of the abbots from Waldsassen. During this time, the wooden bridge that connected the courtyard to the mainland was replaced by a stone bridge, the Fischhofbrücke .

In the Thirty Years' War, in which Tirschenreuth was badly damaged by the Swedish troops, the Fischhof was also burned down in 1641. It was not until 1689 that the Grangia Vischhove , as it was called in the Middle Ages, was created in its current form.

After secularization in Bavaria in 1802 and 1803, the building came back into the possession of the state and was initially the seat of the Royal Bavarian Regional Court and the Rent Office. The Tirschenreuth District Court has been housed here since 1978, for the purposes of which the building was renovated and rebuilt from 1980 to 1984.

The site was the venue for the Tirschenreuth State Garden Show in 2013 .
