history

Fischhofbrücke to the district court

The Fischhof, which was built in 1219, was located on an island in the upper town pond , which was drained in 1808 and was owned by the Waldsassen monastery until 1548 and then owned by the Palatine Wittelsbachers , who used the building as a residence. The complex was later used as the abbots' summer residence for clerical purposes.

The stone bridge ( Fischhofbrücke ) was built in the middle of the 18th century by the master builder and construction director of the Waldsassen monastery, Philipp Muttone , and replaced the wooden bridge that had existed until then. At the beginning of the 20th century, the two statues of the goddesses Ceres and Justitia were added.

In the course of secularization , the state took over the Fischhof in 1802. From 1804 the Tirschenreuth District Court was located here , which was replaced by the Tirschenreuth District Court with the Courts Constitution Act of 1879.
