The Kemnath District Court was a Bavarian court of ordinary jurisdiction that existed from 1879 to 1973 and was based in the city of Kemnath in Bavaria .

history

In 1803, in the course of the administrative restructuring of Bavaria, the Kemnath district court was established. The district office of Kemnath was formed in 1862 through the merger of the district courts of the older order of Erbendorf and Kemnath . The Kemnath Regional Court remained as the judicial authority and was renamed the Kemnath Local Court with the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act in 1879. After the Kemnath district was dissolved, the district court in Eschenbach was also dissolved in 1973.

Courthouse

In 1898 Kemnath's old town hall building was sold to the state administration of justice and used as a district court. It is a three-storey solid building with house integration, polygonal corner templates, crenellated advance wall and clock tower attachment in the arched style. The building was erected by Theodor Fichtl and Adam Schatz according to a design by District Building Inspector Zeitler in 1857/58.
