The Fisher River is an approximately 50 km long left tributary of the Kootenay River in the northwest of the US state Montana .
River course
The Fisher River is formed at the confluence of the Silver Butte Fisher River (left) and the Pleasant Valley Fisher River (right). It flows through the extreme west of the Salish Mountains , a part of the Rocky Mountains , in a northerly direction and flows into the Kootenay River after 50 km of flowing distance 5 km south of Libby Dam . Including the right headwaters of the Pleasant Valley Fisher River , the river length is approximately 110 km.
Hydrology
The Fisher River drains an area of 2180 km². The mean discharge near the mouth is 13.3 m³ / s. Between April and June, the river carries the largest amounts of water on a monthly average.
