The Flattnitz rock flower , also Fladnitzer rock flower ( Draba fladnizensis ) is an arctic-alpine representative of the rock flower ( Draba ).

features

The Draba Fladnizensis is a perennial , herbaceous plant . It reaches heights of growth of 2 to 5 cm. The whole plant is bare. In addition to the basal leaves, the stems have at most three stem leaves. The stem is bald or only hairy at the base. The leaves are single or forked ciliate on the edge and on the surface, or bare on the surface. Star hair is missing.

The petals are white and 2 to 3.5 mm long. Flowering time is June to August, pollination takes place by insects or self-pollination .

The fruit cluster is short and often clusters of corymbs. The Silicules -Frucht is 3 to 7 mm long and 1.5 to 2 mm wide.

The species has the number of chromosomes 2n = 16.

Occurrence

The Flattnitz rock flower has an arctic-alpine distribution. In the Alps, it rarely occurs in Styria, Carinthia, Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Liechtenstein, South Tyrol, Bavaria and Switzerland. It grows in the alpine altitudes at 1600 to 3400 m above silicate and lime in base-rich rock crevices and on rock gravel, mainly in ridges. In the Allgäu it grows at altitudes between 1950 and 2455 meters.

Phytosociological it is an association characteristic species of Drabion hoppeanae .

The species epithet refers to the Flattnitz in Carinthia , from where the species was first described by Franz Xaver Freiherr von Wulfen .
