Flemming Meyer (born December 13, 1951 in Sønderborg , Denmark ) is a German- Danish politician of the South Schleswig voters' association (SSW) and was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament from 2009 to 2020 .

Life and work

Meyer was born as the son of SSW politician Karl Otto Meyer in Sønderborg, Denmark. He passed his Abitur in 1971 on the Duborg-Skolen of the Danish minority in Flensburg . After completing his teaching degree in 1975 at the Flensburg University of Education (Flensborg), he joined the Danish School Association . He worked as a teacher for mathematics , Danish and political education in Humptrup , Wallsbüll (Valsbøl) and Handewitt (Hanved).

Political party

Meyer has been a member of the SSW since 1966. From 1985 to 1991 and 1999 to 2003 he was district chairman of the SSW in the Flensburg-Land district association. He has been a member of the party executive committee since 2003 and has been the party chairman since September 10, 2005. Meyer belongs to the left wing of the SSW and is in favor of the SSW participating in federal elections .

MP

In 1989 Meyer moved up to the district council of Schleswig-Flensburg , from 2003 he was parliamentary group chairman until 2009. In the state elections in 2009 he was elected to the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . Meyer was also a member of the social, economic and environmental committee. On August 1, 2020, he resigned from his state parliament mandate. He was followed by Christian Dirschauer after.
