Flesh Feast is a 1967 horror film starring 1940s Hollywood star Veronica Lake . Here she embodies "a doctor who specializes in plastic surgery and the daughter of a concentration camp victim whose treatment methods include the use of carnivorous maggots".

action

Dr. Elaine Frederick is a middle-aged biologist who specializes in researching "eternal youth". She thinks she has found a method for this that involves the use of carnivorous maggots. The voracious little rascals prefer human flesh. The scientist, who has very few scruples, organizes one or the other corpse for trial purposes and slaughters it. When Dr. Frederick asks whether she would like to take on a very demanding job in the field of plastic surgery, she has no idea what to expect.

The “heroes” of the film: maggots

Fredericks is supposed to bring about nothing less than a restoration, a physical regeneration of Adolf Hitler for their clients, a ring of old Nazis under the leadership of a certain Carl Schumann, with their biological knowledge .

Dr. Fredericks agrees, but for completely different reasons than those of the eternal yesterday suspect. She plans nothing less than to restore the human monster in order to be able to kill Hitler all the more brutally with her carnivorous maggots. The reason: she wants to take bloody revenge on the "Führer" because her mother was once abused in a concentration camp as a guinea pig for medical experiments with maggots like this. In order not to arouse suspicion, she claims that her maggots are absolutely necessary to restore the aging “Führer”. But exactly the opposite is the case, and the mad old woman mercilessly carries out her bestial intentions and sprinkles her hungry carnivores over Hitler's newly restored face. While the eaten-in-the-face “Führer” screams in pain, the madly laughing researcher greets him mockingly with the raised right hand with “Heil Hitler”.

Production notes

Flesh Feast was filmed in Miami Beach in 1967 and premiered on May 20, 1970 in Bridgeport, Connecticut . The strip did not start in Germany. Flesh Feast was the last film by veteran Veronica Lake, who also appeared here as a co-producer.

Reviews

Kay Wenigers Das Großes Personenlexikon des Films called her last film an "abstruse low-cost production" in Veronica Lake's biography, and for US critic Leonard Maltin , Flesh Feast was an "embarrassing, amateur blood festival".
