Helmut Meisolle (born August 31, 1940 in Dankersen ; † June 12, 2002 ) was a German handball player and official . As a goalkeeper he played for TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen in the field handball league , with which he was German champion three times . For the German national team , he ran six times.
Career
Meisolle joined the first team of TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen as an A-youth in autumn 1958 and established himself there due to excellent performances. Four times he missed the German championship with the club with the runner-up title extremely narrowly. Three times in the field (1962, 1964 and 1965) and once in the hall (1965). In the 12-13 defeat in the final against TC Frisch Auf Göppingen , Meisolle was surprisingly used as a circle runner , but remained without a goal. In the years that followed, he won a number of titles on the field. He celebrated the German championship three times (1967, 1970 and 1971). The field handball European Cup, which was only played three times, could be won just as often (1968–1970). In between there was another runner-up championship in 1969. Meisolle thus belongs to the so-called "team of the century" Dankersen. After winning the field championship in 1971, he originally wanted to end his career in competitive sports, but intervened again in the 1972 season and then played in the 2nd or 3rd team. Meisolle stayed with Grün-Weiß Dankersen in many other functions until his death. Among other things, he was first chairman from 1985 to 1992. Later he was managing director and 2nd chairman and organized the trips away for the supporters of the club until he fell ill. He is also the recipient of the Golden Ring of Honor .
He made his debut for the German national team on June 3, 1962 against the Netherlands in Roermond . He played a total of six international matches.
Meisolle had been married to his wife Anita since 1964 and had two daughters. He was a trained machine fitter, but later switched to the commercial area.
On June 12, 2002, he died of cancer. The disease was diagnosed four months earlier. In November 2002 the TSV GWD Minden decided at its annual general meeting to call its youth home from now on the Helmut Meisolle youth home.
