Florentin Pandele

Florentin-Costel Pandele (born April 3, 1961 in Petrăchioaia ) is a Romanian politician .

He graduated from the Naval Institute in Constanța in 1984 and was then a merchant marine officer at IEFM Navrom . From 1990 Pandele was with the British ferry company Sally Line and from 1994 as the captain of Dart Line . In 1997 he returned to Romania and became Deputy Director of the Consumer Protection Office in Bucharest and a year later Director of the Consumer Protection Office of Ilfov County .

Since 1990 Pandele has been a member of the Partidul National Liberal (PNL). He ran for Mayor of Voluntari in 2000 and was elected in the second ballot. In 2004 he switched to the Partidul Social Democrat (PSD) and was re-elected as mayor in the first ballot, also in 2008. In 2010 he joined the newly founded Uniunea Națională pentru Progresul României (UNPR) and was expelled from the PSD, but was reinstated in 2012 and re-elected mayor. In 2016 the PSD expelled him again and Pandele won his fifth election as an independent candidate.

Pandele obtained a doctorate in 2007 from the Police Academy "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" (Bucharest). He received another doctorate in 2008 from the National University of Defense "Carol I" (Bucharest). This title was withdrawn from him in 2016 due to plagiarism.

Florentin Pandele has two children from his first marriage. In 2010 he married Gabriela Firea with whom he had two more children in 2012 and 2015. Firea was elected Mayor of Bucharest in 2016.
