Florian Dohrmann (* 1972 in Tübingen ) is a German double bass player and composer.

Live and act

Dohrmann began his musical training with the piano and discovered the double bass for himself at the age of 19. He studied jazz and popular music with Thomas Stabenow at the Stuttgart University of Music .

In 1998 Dohrmann founded the group "Klezmorim" together with clarinetist David Orlowsky . The ensemble, with Jens-Uwe Popp on guitar since 2005 , was renamed the " David Orlowsky Trio " in 2008 and existed until 2019. It combines Klezmer influences with chamber music elements and jazz. Dohrmann composed numerous pieces for the trio, which were published in 2009 and 2011 in music books by Schott / Advance Music

The trio played at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival , the Rheingau Music Festival , the Hague Jazz jazz festival and the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival . Concert tours abroad have taken the group to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Salzburg Mozarteum , the New York Carnegie Hall , the Philharmonie Luxembourg , Scandinavia, South Korea and the Ukraine.

The “Count Baischy Orchestra” was created at the same time as the entertainer Roland Baisch . At the same time as the trio, Dohrmann was involved in numerous jazz projects. The Florian Dohrmann Quartet released the CD Medium Dry in 2008 , mostly original compositions with cool and west coast jazz . In 2017 Florian Dohrmann founded the jazz quartet "Blank Page", with which he reinterprets the works of classical composers. In 2019 he released the album New Impressions of Debussy with "Blank Page" .
