David Orlowsky

David Orlowsky (born August 26, 1981 in Tübingen ) is a German clarinetist .

Career

He studied classical clarinet with Manfred Lindner at the Folkwang University in Essen (2002–2007) and with Charles Neidich and Ayako Oshima at the Manhattan School of Music in New York (2008).

At the age of 16 he founded the David Orlowsky Trio (with Jens-Uwe Popp , guitar and Florian Dohrmann , double bass) (formerly known as Klezmorim ).

Concert tours take him regularly to Europe, America and Asia.

Musical partners were or are the Danish String Quartet , Igor Levit , Avi Avital , Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra , Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, Kammerakademie Potsdam , Dominique Horwitz , Singer Pur , Vilde Frang , Daniel Hope , Nils Mönkemeyer , Fauré Quartet , Vogler Quartet and Bruno Bohemian Camacho .

He has released several CDs with Sony Classical and has been awarded the Echo Klassik three times.

His compositions are published worldwide by Schott Musik .

Awards

  • In 2008 the trio David Orlowsky's Klezmorim was awarded the Echo Klassik in the category “Classical music without borders”.
  • In 2011 Orlowsky received the Echo Klassik in the same category together with the Ensemble Singer Pur for the album Jeremiah .
  • In 2015 the David Orlowsky Trio was again awarded the Echo Klassik in the category “Classical music without borders”, this time for their album Klezmer Kings - A Tribute .
