Florian Grospietsch (also Großpietsch ; * 1789 in Protzan , near Frankenstein in Lower Silesia ; † after 1830 ) was a German painter .

Life

Grospietsch was self-taught . After a stay in Prague , where he met the history painter and writer August Kopisch , he went to Italy in 1820 , where he studied nature for eight years. In Rome and Naples he became a landscape painter , etcher and lithographer . His pictures were already on view in 1822 and later in Berlin, where he settled in 1830, in the Berlin Academy. Today his pictures are exhibited in the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Neue Pinakothek in Munich .
