Florian Kainz (software developer)
Florian Kainz (* 1969 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a German computer scientist who has received four Oscars for technical merits in the field of visual effects .
Career
Florian Kainz is the son of a head physician in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. While studying computer science , Kainz worked for Steiner-Film in Munich and Grünwald from 1987 , where he stayed after graduating in 1991. In 1994 he worked briefly at Twenty Five Frames in Singapore .
In 1995 he moved to Industrial Light & Magic in San Rafael (California) , where he worked on visual effects in various positions for 19 years . Here he also designed and developed OpenEXR . Kainz was awarded an Oscar for technical merit four times between 1997 and 2014 . He has been with Google in Mountain View since 2014 .
He is married and has two children.
