Florian Walter

Florian Walter (born June 9, 1987 in Hamm ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( woodwind instruments , electronics, composition ).

Live and act

Walter studied school music , jazz saxophone, composition and history in Essen, and performed live with the Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra in 2011 at the International Jazz Days in Viersen. Since 2006 he has been working as a saxophonist and clarinetist and in the field of contemporary composition. Since then he has played in numerous ensembles from experimental pop to new music , improvisation to theater music , etc. a. with Nicola Hein as well as with Simon Camatta and Achim Zepezauer in the formation knu !, also with Machine Mass, What a Waste of Beauty , The Dorf and Wellness (with Julius Gabriel , Fabian Jung ). With Markus Zaja, Felix Fritsche and Sabine Niggemann, he has been organizing concerts in kiosks and drinking halls in the Ruhr area since 2010. With the Trio Wellness (with Marie Daniels , Julius Gabriel, Fabian Jung) he developed the Kreisler-Maschine program , in which they put Georg Kreisler's songs in the space of improvised music.

Walter received the Westphalia Jazz Prize in 2019.
