Marie Daniels

Marie Daniels (born November 15, 1986 in Cologne ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( vocals , composition ).

Act

Daniels was a member of the NRW Youth Jazz Orchestra from 2009 to 2012 ; In 2012/13 she was a member of the Federal Jazz Orchestra , with which she also appeared in concerts with Kurt Elling and can be heard on the album At the Jazzband Ball . In 2013 she completed her studies in jazz singing at the Folkwang University of the Arts .

Even during her studies, Daniels belonged to the large formation The Dorf , with whom several albums were created by 2020. She is active in pop jazz with her group Marie Mokati and in the field of free improvisation in Ensemble Hilde (with Julia Bruxelles, Maria Trautmann and Emily Wittbrodt). She also formed the Trio Brenda with Maika Küster and Jo Beyer . Daniels could be seen with various projects in WDR and SR . She performed in many European countries and also in Senegal, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. She can also be heard with Max Andrzejewskis Hütte & The Homegrown Organic Gospel Choir .

Prizes and awards

Daniels and her band Marie Mokati won 3rd place at the Sparda Jazz Award 2015. In 2013 she won the Ruhr Jazz Prize with The Dorf .
