The Florida Bobcats were an arena football team from Sunrise, Florida that played in the Arena Football League (AFL). The franchise was originally founded as Sacramento Attack , then moved to Miami and called itself the Miami Hooters , before becoming the Florida Bobcats in 1996.
history
Sacramento Attack (1992)
The franchise was established in 1992. She played in what was then the ARCO Arena . After just one season of reaching the playoffs, the franchise moved to Miami and called itself the Miami Hooters.
Miami Hooters (1993-1995)
The well-known restaurant chain Hooters cooperated with the association, so that the franchise took the name Hooters as a nickname. In the three seasons in Miami, however, they only reached the playoffs once.
In 1995 the cooperation with Hooters was ended, so that the franchise had to change its name again.
Florida Bobcats (1996-2001)
For the 1996 season, the franchise moved to Sunrise, which is close to Miami, and played as Florida Bobcats until 2001. Initially, the Bobcats played their home games in the West Palm Beach Auditorium . However, the arena quickly became too small, so that in 1999 it was converted into the much larger National Car Rental Center .
The Bobcats' quarterback was for some time Fred McNair , brother of multiple time pro bowler Steve McNair .
