The BB&T Center is a multi-purpose arena in the US city of Sunrise , a suburb of Fort Lauderdale , in the state of Florida .
history
In 1998 the hall was completed after a two-year construction period. The construction costs amounted to approximately 212 million US dollars , which was paid almost exclusively with public money. The naming rights , which changed hands over the years for the fourth time, include the US since September 2012 bank and investment company BB & T . The contract has a term of ten years.
use
The arena has a capacity of 19,250 for ice hockey games and 20,737 for basketball games . For concerts and other sporting events, there is space between 15,000 and 22,500 spectators in the BB&T Center, depending on the stage arrangement. The arena also offers 70 luxury suites and 2,300 box seats.
Due to the 1,500 m² of usable area, the arena can also be used as a venue for trade fairs and exhibitions as well as other events such as circus or ice shows.
In the past numerous concerts have taken place at the BB&T Center.

- Barbra Streisand , October 30, 2006 (Headlines due to the fact that the singer was pelted with a full cup by a visitor during the concert)
The arena was the venue for the ABA All-Star-Game 2006 on February 11th .
