The Goma airport ( ICAO code : FZNA , IATA code : GOM ) is an international airport near the city of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo . The airport was destroyed by the lava of the volcano in 2002 during the eruption of Nyiragongo, 14 kilometers away , and then rebuilt with international help. Since then, the track has been shortened from 3000 to 2000 meters, which has already led to several accidents. In January 2012, the airport was damaged again in another outbreak.
