The Halim Perdanakusuma airport ( Indonesian Bandar Udara Internasional Halim Perdanakusuma ) is after the Soekarno-Hatta the second airport of the Indonesian capital Jakarta .

Airlines and Destinations

In addition to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the international airport serves mainly as an aviation hub for domestic destinations. It is the base for Aviastar Mandiri , Batik Air , Indonesia Air Transport , Manunggal Air Service , Nusantara Air Charter , Susi Air , Tri-MG Intra Asia Airlines and Wings Air .

Incidents

  • On October 5, 1991, an engine caught fire on a Lockheed C-130H Hercules of the Indonesian Air Force ( aircraft registration TNI-AU A-1324 ) shortly after taking off from Jakarta-Halim Airport ( Indonesia ). Apparently control of the plane was lost and it crashed into a training center 3 kilometers south of the airport. Of the 134 occupants, 133 were killed, all 12 crew members and 121 passengers, and 2 people were killed on the ground. This was the third worst accident involving a Hercules in terms of the number of fatalities.
