The Newcastle Airport ( IATA : NCL ; ICAO : EGNT . Former Woolsington ) is an international commercial airport in Newcastle upon Tyne ( England , UK ).

As part of a public private partnership , the operating company of Copenhagen Airport has a 49% stake, along with 11 local councils who hold 51%.

Location and transport links

The airport is located approximately 9 km northwest of Newcastle city center in the parish of Woolsington . It is connected to the A1 expressway via the A696 . In addition to several bus connections, the airport has also been connected to the city via the green line of the Tyne and Wear Metro since 1991 .

Airlines and Destinations

Newcastle Airport has connections to numerous national and European city destinations such as London , Belfast , Paris , Copenhagen and Barcelona as well as holiday destinations such as Alicante , Malta and Rhodes . Most of these are offered by easyJet , Jet2.com and Thomson Airways . The only German-speaking destination is Düsseldorf with Eurowings .
