The Port Harcourt International Airport ( IATA : PHC, ICAO : DNPO) is the airport of the south of Nigeria city located Port Harcourt .
After a fire on August 17, 2006, the airport was initially closed the following day. In addition to the renovation of the runway , a lighting and instrument landing system of category 2 ("CAT II") and a fence were built around the airport area. In December 2007, after numerous delays, the partially reopened and in May 2008 the complete reopening.

Recent incidents and accidents
On 10 December 2005, in verunfallte Abuja started flying in 1145 the Nigerian airline Sosoliso Airlines at Port Harcourt, as the pilots the ILS - approach below the decision height continued without runway or approach lighting to see and go- to late, only more than 31 meters below the decision height, initiated. The DC-9 aircraft was completely destroyed and of the 110 occupants, 7 crew members and 101 passengers were fatally and 2 passengers were seriously injured. The incorrect implementation of the go-around contributed to the severity of the accident.
On June 6, 2005, an Air France A330 collided with seven cows while landing, resulting in considerable damage.
