The Shymkent International Airport ( Kazakh Халықаралық Шымкент Әуежайы , Russian Международный Аэропорт Шымкент ) ( IATA : CIT , ICAO : UAII ) is an international airport, the Kazakh city of Shymkent served.

Today's airport was built in 1963 on an airfield that was laid out in 1932 and was mainly used for agriculture. It started operations a year later.

Various national and foreign airlines fly to the airport in regular service, including Air Astana and Aeroflot . International destinations include Moscow and Istanbul . In addition, several national destinations such as the capital Nur-Sultan or Almaty are served.
