history
Ferrara-San Luca airfield opened as a military airfield in the mid-1920s and was named after the military pilot Michele Allasia. In 1927 a bomber squadron ( 14º Stormo ) was set up here . The local Aeroclub Ferrara “Roberto Fabbri” was founded in 1960. The military use of the airfield essentially ended in 1972 when a radar unit ( 11º Posto di Riporto e Controllo ) moved to the former military airfield of Poggio Renatico near Ferrara. Military installations remained in the north of the Ferrara-San Luca airfield.
