Fluorite gallery and lime kiln in Vorderkrimml
The fluorite show tunnel and the lime kiln are two sights in the village of Vorderkrimml , in Oberpinzgau ( Land Salzburg ) in the vicinity of the Hohe Tauern National Park . They are located in the Rotte Schloßberg , at the foot of the Nösslachwand (also Nößlingerwand ), in the rearmost Salzach valley .
Fluorite show tunnel and Vorderkrimmler fluorite
In the 1960s, Vorderkrimmler fluorspar , a particularly beautiful violet-blue fluorite , was mined on the Schloßberg . It is a chasm that has been widened by local emitters (stone hunters) for mining. Today it is considered exhausted and was set up as a show tunnel from 1989 , where regular tours take place.
Individual pieces can also be viewed in the Kurt Nowak Mineral Museum in Wald.
Lime kiln
A historic lime kiln can also be viewed near the tunnel . It dates from the end of the 19th century and was used to produce building lime from the local deposits of lime dolomites ( Krimmler Triassic ) on the Rehrlköpfl. Otherwise lime is rare in the area between the crystalline Central Alps and the Slate Alps .
reachability
Schloßberg can be reached from Vorderkrimml on the street and from Krimml train station .
In addition, the am Arnoweg , a Salzburg circular long-distance hiking trail, leads directly past the two sights.
