The flood ditch or flood basin is a left tributary of the Main in the Bavarian sub-Mainebene .

It is the original course of the Welzbach and branches off from it in Großostheim .

The flood ditch begins at a small creek fork ( bifurcation ) of the Welzbach in Großostheim in the district of Aschaffenburg . He crosses under the federal highway 469 , the so-called "Long Towel", and reaches the Miltenberg district . In Niederberghaus the flood digging into the ends Main .
