location

It is located in the historic Quedlinburger Neustadt on the south side of Kaiserstraße and is listed in the Quedlinburg monument register.

Architecture and history

The Fohlenhof was built as a breeding farm on behalf of the city of Quedlinburg, from which the name of the property goes back. The oldest part of the large complex is the western part of the front building, which was built by the master carpenter Martin Lange in 1682, according to other information in 1683 or 1690. The inscription M.MARTEN LANGE Z refers to it . This part of the building shows the typical Lange carvings with floral motifs. The door stands carved with tendrils are also from the construction period. The front door including the skylight dates from the Rococo period around 1750.

The eastern part of the building served as an economic part and has a gate passage. It was built in the second half of the 18th century and was used for residential purposes in the 19th century.

A wing of the building on the east side of the courtyard was built in the 18th century. Probably in the 17th or 18th century, a half-timbered barn with overlapping struts was built to the south of the courtyard .
