The Riu de Foix is a small river in the province of Barcelona in Catalonia ( Spain ). It rises in La Llancuna in the Comarca Anoia at an altitude of 800 m. The Foix finally flows through the Comarca Garraf from north to south and flows west of Cubelles into the Mediterranean. In the summer months it hardly has any water or is completely dried out, but this can change very quickly after heavy rains in the winter months.

In the comarca of Alt Penedès, the Foix has fed a reservoir since 1928 , which is of great importance for the drinking water supply of the densely populated coastal plain. Energy generation now plays a subordinate role, since due to the great demand, hardly any water can be drained from the reservoir. The Parc del Foix Natural Park was established around the artificial lake in 1993, also to ensure its water quality . It is a popular local recreation area .

After a campsite was operated in the Cubelles delta until the early 1990s , which was particularly popular with German tourists , the estuary has now been renatured . This wetland is of high importance for the animal - and plant life , but also for Cubelles as a recreational space.
