Folkstone is a Italian folk metal - band from Bergamo .
Band history
The band was founded in 2005 by Lorenzo, Ferro and Forese who wanted to combine old melodies with metal. At the beginning Lorenzo and his friend Teo Baghèt played the typical Bergamo bagpipe , but then switched to the medieval bagpipes. After a demo ( Briganti di Montagna , 2007), the group's self-titled debut album was released on the Fuel Records label in 2008 . With Elisabetta "Becky" Rossi from Furor Gallico , a harpist also got on board . This was followed by appearances all over Europe until 2009, including at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen and various festivals of the medieval rock scene . Then Davide "Ghera" Gherardi left the band and was replaced by Luca. Towards the end of the year the band released the album Damnati ad Metalla . After that, Rossi left the band to focus on Furor Gallico. Clara came for her.
Music genre
The aim of the group is to combine the music of the medieval scene with metal . Folk Stone found their inspiration in bands like In Extremo , Corvus Corax and Schelmish . In contrast to bands like In Extremo, the medieval and folkloric influences are much more pronounced. However, the band is different only by their Italian texts from the majority of the remaining medieval rock scene. In addition to these somewhat harder orientations, Folk Stone also appear with a smaller line-up as an acoustic band and forego their metal influences.
